Delphine Squires Women’s Suffrage Marker Dedication
A new historic marker on the National Votes for Women Trail (NVWT) will be unveiled during a dedication ceremony on Thursday, March 5. The marker commemorates the Mesquite Club women’s organization and one of its leading members, Delphine Squires. The unveiling ceremony will take place beginning at 10 a.m. at the Historic 5th Street School in Las Vegas. This is the NVWT marker to be dedicated in Nevada.
The NVWT, a project of the National Collaborative for Women’s History Sites (NCWHS), identifies the many sites that were integral to the suffrage movement. This marker series commemorates the people, places and things instrumental to women gaining the right to vote in the United States in 1920 with the passing of the 19th Amendment.
