Dr. Hermann Biggs New York State Historic Marker Dedication
The Village of Trumansburg will host a dedication ceremony for a new historic marker commemorating Dr. Hermann Biggs, a renowned public health leader who was knighted by the King of Spain. The unveiling will take place beginning at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the former Biggs family home located at 30 McLallen St. in Trumansburg, N.Y. Biggs was born in Trumansburg, studied at Cornell University and went on to have an illustrious career in public health. Along with the likes of fellow medical pioneers Pasteur and Lister, Biggs’ name is carved on the frieze of the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He is interred at Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg.
