Erie Canal Flight of Five Phase II Dedication Ceremony
On Saturday, Sept. 28, the Lockport Locks Heritage District Corporation and the City of Lockport will host a celebration for the completion of Phase II of the Flight of Five Rehabilitation Project in Lockport, N.Y. The ceremony will include a dedication and official opening of the newly reconstructed Erie Canal Lock 68. Federal, state and local dignitaries will deliver remarks. The program will also including celebrating the installation of two new Riley’s Way interpretative signs funded by the Pomeroy Foundation.
The event will begin at 8:30 a.m. when dignitaries board the Lockview V, which will depart from Lockport Locks & Erie Canal Cruises and travels through Erie Barge Canal Locks 34 & 35. Following the dedication program, a reception will be held on the grounds of the Erie Canal Discovery Center.
The dedication program coincides with the 6th Annual Locktoberfest Event on Canal Street in Lockport.
