Massena Center Suspension Bridge NYS Historic Marker Dedication
On Saturday, July 6, the Town of Massena will host a dedication ceremony for a new marker commemorating the historic Massena Center Suspension Bridge. The dedication will take place beginning at 10 a.m. at the southeast corner of County Road 42 and 42A near the bridge.
The one lane suspension bridge was built between 1909-1910 by Holton Robinson, a local resident. After becoming an engineer, Holton was put in charge of building the Williamsburg Bridge in New York City in 1889, and later, in charge of the design and construction of the Manhattan Bridge.
