Natty Bumppo Legends & Lore Marker Dedication

The Hoosick Township Historical Society will host a Natty Bumppo Day on Saturday, July 13, in honor of the “Leatherstocking Tales” character Natty Bumppo. It’s said that James Fenimore Cooper based the Bumppo character on Hoosick Falls resident, Nathaniel Shipman.

Natty Bumppo Day activities will include a dedication ceremony for the Natty Bumppo Legends & Lore marker, the unveiling of the headstone for Nathaniel Shipman, self-guided tours of the burial ground where Shipman is interred and a tour of the First Baptist Church. The program begins at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.
