Susan B. Anthony NYS Suffrage Marker Dedication
On Friday, June 28, Chautauqua County will host a dedication ceremony for a historic marker commemorating women’s suffrage leader Susan B. Anthony. The event will take place beginning at 2 p.m. in front of the Chautauqua County Courthouse. There is a parking lot adjacent to the court complex (north side). Street parking that is not metered may be available. County Historian Michelle Henry will serve as MC and Chautauqua County Executive George Borrello will also give remarks.
This marker is part of the Pomeroy Foundation’s New York State Women’s Suffrage Historic Marker Program, which is one of its special commemorative signage grant programs. In 2017, New York State celebrated the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage being signed into law. New York was three years ahead of the U.S., which passed the 19th Amendment in 1920.
