The Pavilion “Blue Sulphur Springs” Legends & Lore Marker Dedication
The Greenbrier Historical Society will host a dedication ceremony for a new Legends & Lore roadside marker commemorating the Blue Sulpher Springs Resort and Pavilion in Alderson, W. Va. The marker unveiling will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at the Pavilion, located at 8010 Blue Sulphur Springs Rd. in Alderson.
The springs had a reputation for their healing powers and the lore of the site lives on locally through the Blue Sulpher Springs Pavilion. The pavilion and two acres were donated to the Greenbrier Historical Society by Mrs. Rebecca Lineberry to ensure its preservation. The historical society has worked with the Friends of the Blue committee to restore the pavilion.
