Toll Gate Site New York State Marker Dedication
The Springfield Historical Society will host an unveiling ceremony for a historic marker commemorating the site of a toll gate that once stood along the Great Western Turnpike completed in 1808. The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6 in East Springfield, N.Y. Following the ceremony, there will be cider and donuts for attendees.
The marker is a replacement marker for an original New York State marker. It is one of two marker grants received by the Springfield Historical Society to replace original New York State markers that are missing or damaged.
