Located in Chenango County, the village of Bainbridge, New York, was established by a state act passed on April 21st, 1829. Following the Incorporation of the village, a meeting was held at the hotel of Levi Bigelow on May 5th, 1829, to elect the trustees. Among those selected was Richard W. Juliant, who was chosen as the first president.

The historical marker sits in the Village Green Park, which is included in the Bainbridge Historic District, and commemorates the formation of the Village.
