A deed dated 1745 shows that a grist, saw, and fulling mill were already established at the Yamphank River. These mills stood at this location in 1958 when they were torn down for highway construction. Deeds show the Carman family owned the Mill from 1780 until 1875, when it was sold to the Suffolk Cub.
