On March 11, 1810, the First Baptist Church in Sodus was established in the town of Sodus in Wayne County, New York. The First Baptist congregation was led by Seba Norton, an early and longtime influential church elder. At first meeting in members’ homes, the congregation continued to grow until it became necessary to build a meeting house. The church was built in 1826 of brick made of locally sourced red clay, with the first meeting held in the new building on July 15, 1826.

The church was used for regular religious services until 1926, and as of 2024 is still used for weddings and special events, with the building and surrounding cemetery maintained by the Baptist Rural Cemetery Association. In 1997, the church building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and in 2026 it will see its 200th anniversary as an early landmark of this community.
