Working Lodge 554 started meeting in 1864 and moved into Mason Hall at 163 Main St. after it was completed in January 1866. Meetings there continued until 2017, when the remaining members put the building up for sale and joined the Cobleskill Lodge. In 2017, a deal was reached for the Jefferson Historical Society to purchase the building for $30,000. As of 2021, the building was being rehabilitated to become a museum dedicated to the history of Jefferson, NY.
