Historically, the town of Cincinnatus was a thriving agricultural community and home to a number of dairy farms. From 1898-1967 a creamery operated here as well. Reid Ice Cream had several locations throughout New York State and across the country, producing milk, cream, and ice cream. 150 local farms supplied milk to Reid Ice Cream, who enjoyed close to 30 years of prosperity in Cincinnatus, before being acquired by the Borden Company in 1928. The creamery continued operations until it closed its doors in April 1967.
