The origin of America’s first spiritualist movement began on this site when 15 year old Maggie Fox and her sister, 11 year old Kate, reported hearing unexplained noises over the winter of 1847-48. The sisters went on to become famous mediums and traveled the world, bringing much attention to the movement.
