In 1793 Timothy Jerome, from Massachusetts, bought 600 acres of land on Chenango Road, now known as the Rowley-Jerome Road. He came in 1794, built a log cabin, and started to farm the land. Jerome was a great-great-granduncle to Sir Winston Churchill and the first supervisor for the Town of Fabius.
