Ellen “Nellie” and Anna, daughters of Lucien and Susan Yeomans, celebrated their respective marriages on June 10, 1891. Ellen married Charles W. Hamilton of Denver, Colorado and Anna married Joseph A. Reed of Beatrice, Nebraska. Although the Yeomans family was well-established in Walworth with a long history as local business owners and politicians, it was a wedding guest that attracted the attention of national news outlets to the event. The Democrat and Chronicle reported that nearly 100 guests were in attendance, including the brides’ maternal uncle and former President of the United States, Grover Cleveland. Another maternal uncle, Rev. William N. Cleveland, performed the double marriage ceremony here at the Yeomans family home in Walworth, NY.
